So, this is basically a Vaan appreciation post.

I’ve seen many people hate on Vaan’s character because he’s boring, has weird abs and most of all, HE SUCKS BASCH SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE MAIN CHARACTER DAMN YOU SQUARE!!!

Vaan is an orphan living in Rabanastre, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor! Yes, he’s just a regular joe schmo compared to Ashe, Balthier and Basch and I like that he’s a regular joe schmo! Vaan isn’t a hero, or a sky pirate - he’s just a teenager. With that, it’s easy for us to fit into his shoes, boots, whatever. I’m as normal as a person can be and while playing, I felt that I could identify myself as Vaan.

But what I like about Vaan is that he remains this passionate and determined guy throughout the whole game, and by chance, he becomes involved in something that’s much bigger than he is! It makes perfect sense that his role is more of a view point. I love the fact that Vaan’s role isn’t as large as Ashe’s or Basch’s. It’s a different turn, something new!

While being on this unexpected journey, Vaan was able to fly amongst the sky pirates, like he’s always dreamed. But with that journey came things that were complicated, Balthier’s conflict with his father, Ashe’s temptation with the Dusk Shard - and he wasn’t prepared at all. Vaan just went with it and he learned new life lessons and damn it, these characters shaped each other and developed each other so nicely.

I do believe that this game, these characters, would not have been the same if Vaan wasn’t in the picture!
